Greetings from your new MNA District 5 President

Harolda Hedd-Kanu was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She has two sons and has lived in Prince Georges County, Maryland for 25 years. She is currently a full time nurse faculty at Howard Community College, Columbia Maryland.

She is a graduate of Prince Georges Community College, Largo Maryland, where she earned her Associate of Science (AS) in Nursing and received the Outstanding Achievement in Nursing Studies Award. Also, she is a graduate of The University of Maryland, Baltimore where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing(BSN);Magna Cum Laude, Masters of Science (MS) in Community and Public Health Nursing and Graduate Teaching Certificate for Health Professions. She has an American Nurses Credentialing Certification (ANCC) in Medical- Surgical Nursing.

In addition, she is a member of the Honor Society in Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Pi Chapter and Psi Beta, The National Honor Society in Psychology for Community and Junior Colleges.

She celebrates 17 years as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. Her professional experience includes acute and long term care; community and public health; didactic and clinical faculty. She is looking forward to improve diversity and continue community service in the Maryland Nurses Association. She is humbled by this great honor to serve the nurses of MNA D5 and the citizens of Prince Georges and Montgomery County.
