About Us

Welcome to District 5 Maryland Nurses Association
Greetings from your new MNA District 5 President
January, 2011
Let me introduce myself. I am Cheryl Dover the new MNA District 5 President. I am a resident of Prince George’s County and work at Prince George’s Community College at the Chair of the Department of Nursing. I am honored to be your new president for the next two years. MNA District 5 serves the nurse constituents living and working in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. We support the interest of MNA at the state level. The primary purpose of MNA is to provide direction and a voice for the profession of nursing in Maryland. Follow the link to the state webpage for upcoming activities ie: Lobby Day on February 21st in Annapolis.

The district 5 board consists of the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, five board of directors, and the chair of the nominating committee (see officers). Several of our members are also active at the state level. This year, we plan to revise the district 5 By-laws. MNA District 5 meets monthly either in-person or by conference call (see meeting schedule and map to the in-person meeting site.) Our May and November meetings will be educational dinner meetings. These meetings feature a speaker on topics of interest to nurses. This is a wonderful way to network with the members in our district. I hope you can join us. We also appreciate your ideas and suggestions. We are excited to once again seek applicants for our scholarship award (see scholarship applications.) You must live or work in Montgomery or Prince George’s counties to be eligible. Please take a few moments to review the scholarship application process and see if you qualify.

As the year moves along consult the website for meeting minutes, other updates and activities. I look forward to serve as your president and to meet you at one of our meetings. Remember, together we can accomplish a great deal to enhance the profession of nursing.
